Mission: Master the concepts of Hosting, the Cloud, and the Web Server-Client relationship for your J277 GCSE.
The device you use to access the web (laptop, phone). It sends requests to a web server and displays the results.
High-powered computers that "serve" files (web pages). They listen for requests and send back the response.
Web hosting is the service of storing a website's files on a server that is always connected to the internet. This allows other computers to access the site 24/7.
The Cloud refers to remote services accessed over the internet. This includes remote storage (Google Drive), software (Office 365), and processing power.
The "Easier to Hack" Trap: Never say the Cloud is "easier to hack". Cloud hosts usually have better security than you! Instead, say you are reliant on a third party to manage that security.
Hosting vs Internet: Remember, the Internet is the network infrastructure; Hosting is the service of using someone's server to store your files.
Client/Server Role: The Client initiates the request; the Server waits and responds. You must use the words Request and Response.
