How OS Manages the System

1. User Management

The OS acts as a security guard. It ensures that User A cannot see or delete the private files of User B.

  • Allocation of User Accounts.
  • Password management & protection.
  • Access Rights (Permissions).

2. File Management

Imagine secondary storage is a giant warehouse. The OS provides the Labeling System.

  • Organizing files into folders.
  • Naming and renaming files.
  • Moving, copying, and deleting data.
Exam Hint: If an OCR question asks for the "function of an OS" regarding users, always mention Access Rights or Permissions.
